The “Mystery” of Mary Magdalene?

Why should there be a “Mystery” attached to various artistic depictions of Mary Magdalene? Apart of course from the massive desire to believe that there is some sort of “Mystery”....
Is this all really factual? Or is it all a case of apophenia? Even if it is factual, where is the “Mystery”?
Also, there COULD be a connection between the artistic style of Mary Magdalene found on the altar on Saunière’s church, on various pendants and on various paintings – to that found to the statue of St Mary Magdalene in the Basilica of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume (crafted by a nineteenth-century sculptor named I. Simon).
Also, Bérenger Saunière mastered the art of Roman Catholic syncretism in Rennes-le-Château. There are many more examples of Sauniere's syncretisms that may be given.
Emma Calvé: The “connection” with Bérenger Saunière
Emma Calvé’s real name was Rosa-Noémie Emma Calvet. Her tombstone bears her real name, “E. Calvet” (buried in Millau, Aveyron, Midi Pirynées, France).
Perhaps the funniest gag of genuine apophenia is this – the “E. Calvet” who sculpted the Calvary in Rennes-les-Bains below – could also have been the same “E. Calvet” mentioned by Saunière in his mass-trafficking notebooks – that later inspired the myth of Emma Calvé’s “connection” with Bérenger Saunière! Unless of course the Calvary was sculpted by the opera singer!
