The “Treasure” of Rennes-le-Château is a confidence trick! Noël Corbu invented the “Treasure” after the death of Marie Denarnaud in 1953! Noël Corbu bought Marie Denarnaud's property in 1946 but nothing was mentioned about the “Treasure” until after her death!

The source of Abbé Saunière's wealth is recorded in his Account Books and in his Records of Correspondence! Saunière faced an Ecclesiastical Trial by his superiors the Carcassonne Bishopric in 1910-1911 and was stripped of his priesthood! Saunière was judged to have accepted more money than he was able to say masses for and was therefore a crook! Saunière died in 1917 in abject poverty owing money to his grocer! The whole “Treasure” story is a confidence trick! The whole subject matter is fit only for the gullible that hide these facts!
