Christian Doumergue & Le Hiéron du Val d'Or

What is the value of Christian Doumergue’s book about Rennes-le-Château? André Galaup went on record, on his website, that he always avoided Doumergue’s books. Doumergue was heavily ctiticised in the French Press for turning the Saunière Museum into a Pierre Plantard haven for romantic Priory of Sion believers.

It’s a fact that there is a semi-pseudo page in “Les Dossiers Secrets” that was inspired by, and was re-edited, as a tribute to, Paul Le Cour and found in the 1949 edition of his book “L'Ère du Verseau” (that was first published in 1937). But that is all.

Did Christian Doumergue point out the fact of Paul Le Cour’s anti-Semitism? Did Doumergue mention that Le Hiéron du Val d'Or was a relatively small society that was mainly for the upper classes? Most important of all – did Doumergue tell his readers that Pierre Plantard only used the images and works of Paul Le Cour as a basis to feed his own ideas. None of these facts are to be found in any of his books.

For how much longer did the society of Le Hiéron du Val d'Or exist following the death of Jeanne Lépine-Authelain in 1926? Does Christian Doumergue tell us?

Indeed, there was a French Open Letter that criticised Christian Doumergue.

The books by Christian Doumergue are only shallow in nature when it comes to points of actual detail – his sole purpose is to add strength to the idea that there was some concrete evidence linking Pierre Plantard to Paul Le Cour – and by extension to connect everything to the village of Rennes-le-Château and its “mysterious treasure”.

The works of Christian Doumerge not only lack depth, substance, or thorough investigation – but seem to have been written merely to satisfy the whims and beliefs of the ordinary believers in the non-existent treasure of Rennes-le-Château.

Christian Doumergue was initially criticised and discredited by the very same French people who have now only changed their positions about him – because they themselves have now become book publishers about the romantic version of Rennes-le-Château.
