The “Apocryphal Letter of Claudia Procula” originated as a pious religious story loosely based on her traditions by Éveline Ribbecourt (the pseudonym of Mathilde Bourdon, 1817-1888), called “La Mort du Juste”, in Journal des Demoiselles, Nombre X, pages 296-302, Quatorzième Année, 3e Série, Octobre 1846.
