Former Honorary Keeper of Anglo-Saxon Antiquities at the Cambridge University Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology 1923-1957, T. C. Lethbridge during the 1950s worked with Frank Glynn (1905-1968) and Frederick J. Pohl (1889-1991) on the “Westford Knight”. In correspondence dated 1956 to Glynn he identified the “sword” as of the fourteenth century type, suggesting that the arms, armour and heraldic emblems were akin to the first Sinclair Earl of Orkney.
