Brian Innes wrote two series of articles on Rennes-le-Chateau and the Priory of Sion for The Unexplained magazine (Orbis Publishing) in 1980 and 1983, during a period of time when literature on these subject matters in the English language was in short supply.

Brian Innes seems to have been the first person to have linked Rennes-le-Château with the village of Opoul (known as Opoul-Périllos since 1971), in the article “Unravelling Rennes” (before André Douzet).
