AVE MARIA in Rennes-le-Château

03 June 2024

In one of his videos, Henry Lincoln pointed to the inscription at the bottom of the Statue of Our Lady of Lourdes in Rennes-le-Château and wondered what the interlaced “A” and “M” meant.

Quoting a baffled Henry Lincoln: “Here's another little oddity – Ô MARIE CONÇUE SANS PÉCHÉ, PRIEZ POUR NOUS – O Mary Conceived Without Sin Pray For Us (Note: this is part of the reference to the Apparition of the Virgin Mary to Catherine Labouré and the Miraculous Medal). Why are the M and the A overlaid? Did the stonemason just make a spelling mistake and correct it? Unlikely. But just remember whatever explanation you come up with is going to be pure speculation. We just don't know.”

We REALLY don't know?
Another INEXPLICABLE mystery?
