Two Goddesses that symbolised Two Revolutions – Marianne and Columbia – belonging to France and America – but both countries took entirely different directions politically.

Paul Le Cour hypothesised that the female on his “ring” – given to him by Jeanne Lépine and, ultimately belonged to Baron Alexis de Sarachaga (1840-1918), founder of the mystical French esoteric society Le Hiéron du Val d’Or – could have represented the Greek Goddess Cybele. Unfortunately we have no proof that this ring even existed – and it is thought to represent Paul Le Cour being a continuation of, and carrying the baton of, Le Hiéron du Val d’Or.

However, Jacques d'Arès wrote in his “Mémoires d'un Trouble-Fête. La vie ésotérique en France à travers la revue Atlantis, 1926-2010” (Éditions Dervy, 2018), that Jeanne Lépine told Paul Le Cour: “You will become one of us after three years.” However, Jeanne Lépine died in an accident on 4 February, 1926 – that is to say, before the initiation. Paul Le Cour therefore never knew the truth of the matter, especially since Jeanne Lépine had bequeathed Baron de Sarachaga's Signet Ring to him in her will.
