There is a lot of New Age Rubbish about Mary Magdalene produced by the gullible since the publication of The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail in 1982. Not even the “mighty” Abbé Bérengèr Saunière in Rennes-le-Château knew the meaning of this symbolism because he was merely a traditionalist Roman Catholic.

It is argued that the Crucifixion and Resurrection is not present in the Gospel of Thomas – but it is there – it is found right in front of everyone's eyes – but people just cannot recognise it. There can only be one meaning and interpretation to it. Nikos Kazantzakis put it very succinctly in his novel The Last Temptation of Christ.
