People dismiss the very idea of psychoactive flora and religion, but if drugs were used in Indonesia some 25,000 years ago for medical purposes – drugs would also have been used for recreational purposes, not to mention religious and philosophical purposes to infuse meaning and comfort.

People dismiss and scoff at the very idea of drugs and religion, but the very nucleus of going to worship in a church involves celebrating the use of the Eucharist – yet churchgoers and the priests who officiate the celebration the Mass find that practice completely acceptable – without even thinking.

In today's religion, it's simply another habit without any notion of origins: Why? How? What? When? Such questions are completely and totally irrelevant.

It's a bit like enjoying music devoid of understanding or taking notice of the device being used to enable the very operation. Known as passive consumption – the act of fully enjoying an experience – like listening to music – while being completely detached from, or indifferent to, the technology or mechanics that make it possible (the playback device).
