Holy Blood, Holy Grail, Wholly Lies
What is needed is some good research

The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail contained new updates in its 1996 and 2006 editions, except:

The updates in The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail 1996 and 2006 editions failed to contain any information about Pierre Plantard distancing himself from the “Jesus Bloodline” theory in 1982 and 1993.

The updates in The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail 1996 and 2006 did not provide any updates about Pierre Plantard and his 1993 Case with Thierry Jean-Pierre over Roger Patrice Pelat.

The updates in the The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail 1996 and 2006 did not say anything about Jacques Rivière's 1983 book that provided all the correspondence about Abbé Bérenger Saunière's Ecclesiastical Trial of 1910-1911; just like it did not provide any information about Marie Dénarnaud's life of poverty contained in Claire Corbu and Antoine Captier's 1985 book (it was only Noël Corbu during the 1950s who settled Marie Dénarnaud’s debts that she accrued since 1917 hoping that a buyer would be found for Saunière’s Estate).

The updates in The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail 1996 and 2006 failed to give any information about Jean-Jacques Bedu's book of 1990 that demonstrated that Abbé Saunière's wealth originated from the selling of masses – but this should not surprise us since René Descadeillas' 1974 study, Mythologie du Trésor de Rennes: Histoire Veritable de L’Abbé Saunière, Curé de Rennes-le-Château was misrepresented (Descadeillas himself stated that he was originally a believer, until he later witnessed the evidence of Saunière's correspondence and Account Books in Mythologie du Trésor de Rennes).

When it comes to doing research, we know for definite that we cannot rely on The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail.

What does remain factual – is the fact that the absurdity of the “Jesus Bloodline” was responsible for the successful tourism to Rennes-le-Château. First in 1982 and then again with Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code in 2003. Even though the “Jesus Bloodline” is devoid of any historical provenance and it has got nothing to do with Abbé Bérenger Saunière’s activities at Rennes-le-Château.
