The excavations of Camps-sur-l’Agly and looking for Saunière's “treasure”. Let the Believers in the treasure of Abbé Bérengèr Saunière excavate the whole of France – and let it not stop there – but also in the whole of Europe, and even beyond Europe – because the power of the imagination has no limits. Imagination is boundless. Indeed, let's look for the “treasure” of Abbé Saunière even in Outer Space – perhaps it can be found in the star system of Sirius.

It's a fact that local inhabitants mentioned the “treasure of Bérengèr Saunière” before Noël Corbu. But this was still after the death of Abbé Saunière. The people who claimed that – they did not know about the evidence of Bérengèr Saunière's “carnets” [Account Books] hiding under his bed! (Just like the Bishopric!) It was also when Marie Denarnaud was living a life of abject poverty and accumulating a large amount of debts!

Quoting Jean Girou from his work L’Itinéraire en Terre d’Aude (page 169, 1936):

“....that's the road to Rennes-le-Château. Outlined against the ridge of the plateau is a most unusual sight: ruined houses and a dilapidated feudal castle overhang – and are partly mixed up with – the chalk-cliff. Then we see villas and towers with verandas, which are new and modern and which form a strange contrast with the ruins. This is the house of a priest who built these sumptuous living-quarters with the money from a discovered treasure – or so the locals say anyway!’

When did Abbé Bérenger Saunière ever claim to have found a treasure? There are no references.

But, the search for the Mythical Treasure is an exercise in elimination, and because the power of the imagination has got no limits (like the invention of the treasure itself), it will be a process that will last infinitely!!
