Can anyone prove that this piece of rubbish was really originally owned by Abbé Bérenger Saunière? Does this item have any provenance? Can any of the various conflicting tales about it be trusted? Le Sot Pêcheur owes its origin to the Believers unless it can be otherwise be proved – by evidence – not from gossip or by something that originated from page 67 of “L’Or de Rennes” by Gérard de Sède (1967).
