Reading of the sermon.

Today the Church celebrates the feast of St Peter and St Paul. - Jesus Christ made St Peter the head of the Apostles and His Church. - "Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee". - "Tu es petrus, et super, etc…" [You are Peter and upon this rock etc.]

St Paul, formerly a persecutor of Christians, was called Paul the Apostle to the Nations, to the Gentiles. They both suffered martyrdom in Rome, on the same day at the same hour, in the 14th year of the reign of Nero. Their relics are deposited at St. Peter's and St John Lateran.

Wednesday July 2nd is also the festival of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin. The Church established this festival to honour the day when the Blessed Virgin visited her cousin Saint Elisabeth.

Bad weather, so we had neither the catechism nor the procession.
