OUR GOAL ...

My dear friends,

In 1937 Pierre de France was the head of a small organisation known as l'Union Française ('The French Union'), which split into two branches: 'Pour l'Unité' ('For Unity'), which had 10,414 members and many propagandists, and 'Jeunesse de France' ('Youth of France'), which numbered some 1,623 members in the census of 8 September 1939.

In 1939 it established three summer camps, the most important of which was the one held at Plestin-des-Grèves (Côtes-du-Nord), which was known as 'Jacques-Coeur' Camp, and which gathered together and took care of - free of charge - 75 children between 1 August and 20 October 1939.

But this organisation was only a preliminary experiment.

Since the events that have occurred since that time have proved the profound good sense of his views and their essential rightness, he has decided to found today a 'Grand Order of Chivalry', the ALPHA GALATES, to be devoted solely to the service of the Fatherland alongside the Marshal [Pétain].

Why is it called the ALPHA GALATES? Because in Gaulish times this Order was the finest flower of 'Galatian Chivalry', the most ancient form of chivalry of the western world.

But isn't it too late for this Order?

Can it really bring us something new? Don't we have enough organisations already?

These are questions that you are no doubt asking yourselves, my dear friends, and to which I wish to respond by explaining the Order's goal to you.

No, it is not too late, and we do not want to form a group just like the others. The Ideal that we shall be pursuing is healthy, lively and innovative; it will sound the reveille of a new awareness - the renewal of our Fatherland.

'The essential problem involved in reconstructing a country is that of awareness. If we take a close look at the situation in our country we can see immediately that the problem of achieving a renaissance is one of moral and physical education', said Pierre de France on 20 June 1939 in the Salle Villiers, rue du Rocher, Paris, before an audience of about a thousand people.

Yes indeed, 'to instruct is to construct'.

So the ALPHA GALATES will not be a populist grouping with a political goal and a dazzling programme, launched, like a medicinal product, with instructions for use, to the accompaniment of the resounding thuds of a bass drum. There are already enough groups belonging to political parties or associations of all kinds, which, by their very existence, have contributed, to our general ruin - which is why we have not created another one today. Pierre de France does not, therefore, have a sensational programme to unveil to you, but rather a specific goal presented under the evocative term 'grand order of chivalry'.

The members of the Order will have to understand our Ideal and will have to gradually acquire the necessary disciplines that will teach them purity of thought and the art of correct reasoning.

Through our doctrine, therefore, they will be brought face to face with the most widely varying civilisations. They will acquire a sense of proportion and tolerance, and a taste for moderation and balance.

In our study groups they will learn the methods of criticism, logic, analysis, synthesis and comparison.

Then, in their turn, travelling and the cinema will broaden their horizons by bringing them into direct contact with the most diverse ideas and civilisations.

But their minds, which will not be filled and given shape solely by enthusiastic teachers, must not be allowed to become their faith and their mission - we must amuse them as well. Thus we will establish recreational and artistic programmes, and create games rooms and reading rooms and other facilities. Their bodies will also be strengthened in a manner identical to that of their minds; to achieve this we will organise physical education sessions, sports, relaxation holidays, and so on.

To put our Fatherland back where it belongs, at the service of its 'true mission', we must eradicate from its soul the dominant pathogens, the hate-filled resentments and the false dogmas such as secularism, godlessness and the corrupt principles of the old democratic Judaeo-freemasonry.

Thus our Order will serve as the 'laboratory' of a new Fatherland, ardent, proud and respected, just as we want to construct it.

My dear friends, that is our goal. The ALPHA-GALATES awaits you.
