It is with great sadness and emotion that we received this evening, 7 March 1989, news of the death of our former Grand Master of the PRIORY OF SION:

ROGER-PATRICE PELAT

at the age of sixty-nine years who resigned from the ORDER on 6 February 1989. He succeeded our former Grand Master, Marquis Philippe de CHERISEY, who also died of an embolism. We ask that all initiates of the ORDER kindly observe a minute’s silence in memory of a person who was always a MAN in the shadows, perfectly honest and just, who fell beneath the blows of certain American "initiates".

After numerous approaches and discussions, the PRIORY of SION asked our former Grand Master Pierre PLANTARD de SAINT CLAIR to resume control of the ORDER with effect from 9 MARCH 1989 on the following conditions:

1 - The Brothers of the Order excluded by the Marquis de CHERISEY will be readmitted.

2 – Article XIX and Article XXII of the constitutions amended on 5 JUNE 1956 by Grand Master Jean COCTEAU will be annulled and the former wording will assume its old force.

3 – The American members (of the ORDER) will be free and independent. They will no longer be "integrated" into the PRIORY of SION, which will remain exclusively European,
