Ezekiel's Vision and the Lamassu

Arnold Whittick, in his book Symbols, Signs, and Their Meaning (1960; Revised Edition 1971) cited A. H. Layard (1817-1894) and E. B. Tylor (1832-1917) who both proposed that the vision of Ezekiel in the Old Testament was inspired by the Assyrian Lamassu, a composite figure of Lion, Ox, Eagle and Man. Ancient Astronaut theorists often claim that Ezekiel's vision was a reference to an extraterrestrial spacecraft.
